In the old days, the son of a wealthy man from Zaghori, from the village of Dhilofo, asked a beautiful young woman from the neighboring village of Koukouli to marry him. When they got married and settled down in the groom’s village, the woman missed her village very much. Her husband then, built for her, a tall house, the tallest one in Zaghorochoria. From its top, rising at 13.5 meters, his beloved wife could see her village and not feel sad. This mansion of the Makropoulos family still exists today in the village of Dhilofo. It stands out in Zaghoria and the locals tell its story.
