Spending Easter in Roumeli (Sterea Ellada) is a singular experience. People of all generations gather in the mountain villages, towns and small country towns – including Arachova – of Roumeli and engage in pit roasting. Lambs are cooked over open pit fires. Through this custom, the locals celebrate the Resurrection and welcome the spring.
On Easter Sunday, visitors can feel more deeply the hospitality of local people, as they are free to share the festive spirit of the day with them, drink wine, dance and eat various local tidbits.
